We believe as Christians we have a moral duty to protect and care for God’s creation.
As a church we have adopted the Eco Church plan devised by the Christian conservation charity A Rocha, who are partners with the United Reformed Church in this particular mission. This is a 94 point plan covering five broad areas, namely Worship and Teaching; Buildings; Land; Community and Global Engagement; and Lifestyle.
In specific terms this involves such things as: installing new double-glazing, loft insulation, bird feeders, bug hotels, composting, water butts, and bicycle parking; sourcing our consumable items from fairtrade and eco-friendly suppliers. In global matters we are twinning our toilets with areas of the world having a shortage of safe sanitation, and we are supporting Project Uganda which helps to build schools and other facilities for children in need.
For all our endeavours in this we aim to achieve an official Eco Church Award.
